This is true of clothes. It is also true of lives.
Heavy cotton, garment-dyed, built to hold up under real wear — that is not an accident. We do not think about a garment's first week. We think about its two-hundredth.
The easier thing, for us and for you, is to buy something that wears out in a season and needs replacing. We are betting that a man who has done some work on himself does not actually want easier. He wants clothes that keep up with the parts of him that don't change every season.
Fix what can be fixed. Wear what has earned its place. That is not a rule about laundry. It is a rule about how to hold onto the things — and the parts of yourself — that are actually worth keeping.
